He was
born in Gaziantep (Oğuzeli). His home town is Denizli. He attended to
primary and secondary schools in İzmir. He graduated in Konya Highschool
in 1964. He was a student in Middle East Technical University between
the years 1964-1966 and he carried out university training in İstanbul
Technical University as mining engineer between the years 1966-1970.
He had his M.Sc. degree in İ.T.Ü mining faculty in 1972. He worked as a
mining engineer and also a manager at mines belonged to private sector.
Since he had started studying for Ph.D while working at private sector,
he joined to Anadolu University as a research assistant in 1978. He won
the British Council scholarship to study for Ph.D in 1980 and carried
out his study at the end of 1982. He was associate professor in 1985 and
professor in 1993. He worked as the director of the mining engineering
department in Osmangazi University (Eskişehir), between the years
1993-2002. He has been the rector of Dumlupınar University in Kütahya
since September 2002. He is married and father of three children. He
speaks in English and German
